Asma's Belongings

Assalaamualaikum,

The other day I was cleaning the garage and came across some things that made me pause for a little bit and think.

At first, I found Asma's shoes, sandals, and boots. They had dust over them. However, they were like new in condition. I just stopped and thought about how she used to wear them. She loved shoes.

I just put them back where I found them. I dont want to throw them away or anything.

Then I opened up the cabinets in my garage. Its full of toys, games, dolls, and picture frames thta Asma had gotten over the years as presents. Many of them are still in the wrapper and havent been opened. Half the time she didnt even feel well enough to open them and play.

They are just sitting there collecting dust. I dont even want to take them out. I just shut the cabinet because I didnt want to look at them.

Her stuff is everywhere. Her clothes, toys, wheelchair, walker, toilet, medical supplies, prosthetic leg, shoes, etc. are everywhere from her room to the basement.

I dont plan on throwing them away.

Insha'Allah we are trying to donate medical supplies to anyone who needs them and same with the clothes and toys that she didnt ever use/wear.

The clothes and toys that she did use/wear before, Im keeping them.

People make me really mad when they say we should throw all that way or give it away. Im just like, "Screw you."

Her shoe is still in the same place as it was before she passed away. No one wants to move it. Her sunglasses are still on the top of the TV stand as they were before she passed away.

Before I go, I just want to say that if you want me to make dua'a for you at Hajj, email me at haq_omar@hotmail.com.

Either way, I will make dua'a for Muslims all around the World, Insha'Allah.

May Allah reunite us with Asma again. Ameen
May Allah accept our dua's and Hajj and forgive us all. Ameen
May Allah elevate Asma's status to the highest level in Jannah. Ameen

Assalaamualaikum.

Man, reading this, and remembering it was this month two years ago in which my grandmother passed away, reminds us of the fragility and fleeting nature of this Dunya and life... and in reflection on your Umrah post, my family also thought my grandmother would be with us after Ramadan/Eid, but she only stayed for about 2 weeks. Subhan'Allah bro, we're so caught up in the mundane affairs to stop and think of what awaits us and when it's our time to go.

Take care, enjoy the Hajj experience and pray, pray, pray!

    Ma assalam,
    Farooq

p.s. Don't come back a Saudi exile lol

you know wallah... i will tell u this.. when my grandmother passed away.. after few months after.. everyone wanted to take her things out of her drawers and closet etc..and they were like they have to make her room vacant and move her stuff to the basement or watever.. WALLAH i will tell u this.. it got me totally pissed off.. cuz like although i know in reality she is gone and that it was Allah's will for her to go etc.. but i didnt want to forget her, i lived all my life with her..i felt as if i didnt want memories of her to fade from my memory and my life...if i had the authority.. i would have probably left all her sutff the way it was when she had passed away ..

    subhanAllah..

    Salaams,
When someone passes away, its better to move on and give away their things. I am guilty of holding on too long to things of loved family members who are nto around anymore, but a religious friend said its not right, you should give it away to someone who can use it. Its sadqa. The things lying around remind you more and continue to hurt you. I know its tough, but is it not what she would want?
May Allah give you and your family immense sabr, ameen.

people always are lame and say stupid things ,its nice to mind your own business.im just sorry you have to deal with their stupidity.

those things are very sentimental and what is life without sentiment?
thats awesome that you got to make hajj

and on a different level ,i can relate to seeing belongings of someone u wont see anymore.makes you feel so choked up.
